Climb – Children’s Independent Mobility

  • Pedagogical Initiative
  • Italy Trento

Summary

CLIMB promotes children’s independent, active and sustainable mobility by turning the daily journey to school into a shared adventure. Designed for primary school children, families and schools, the project operates within the home–school mobility context. Its core element, Kids Go Green, is a playful educational game where every kilometre travelled by sustainable means unlocks steps in a collective journey around the world, revealing cities, landscapes and stories. Combined with Pedibus Smart, an IoT‑supported walking bus, CLIMB blends gamification, experiential learning and technology to make sustainable mobility safe, fun and rewarding, fostering autonomy, social interaction and long‑term behaviour change. Its impact was nationally recognised in 2016, when the Comune di Trento won first prize for sustainable mobility from the Associazione Comuni Virtuosi.
